De tweet van de nieuwe president van Kenia is inmiddels aangepast. De paragraaf waar de intrekking wordt gemeld van de erkenning van SADR is verdwenen, zie het eerste bericht van 14 september onderaan. Het volgende is wat nog rest van de tweet: "We are accelerating relations with the Kingdom of Morocco in areas of trade, agriculture, health, tourism, energy, among others, for the mutual benefit of our countries. Kenya supports the United Nations framework as the exclusive mechanism to find a lasting solution of the dispute over Western Sahara."

In een nieuwe verklaring van de vertrekkende regering in Kenia is te lezen dat het land SADR nog steeds erkent. Dat staat haaks op wat de nieuw gekozen president William Ruto vorige week via zijn Twitter account heeft verklaard. De in augustus 2022 gekozen president William S. Ruto van Kenia kondigt in een bericht vandaag aan dat hij de “Arabisch Democratisch Republiek van de Westelijke Sahara” (SADR) niet langer erkent als land. Hij wil alle vertegenwoordigers ervan het land uit. Het besluit heeft mogelijk gevolgen op de discussie binnen de Afrikaanse Unie over de toekomst van SADR als lidstaat. Kenia is een land van bijna 40 miljoen inwoners. Het besluit van vandaag is een grote diplomatieke overwinning voor Marokko. Het bericht van de president zoals op zijn Twitter account is verschenen @WilliamsRuto: “At State House in Nairobi, received congratulatory message from His Majesty King Mohammed VI. Kenya rescinds its recognition of the SADR and initiates steps to wind down the entity’s presence in the country. Kenya supports the United Nations framework as the exclusive mechanism to find a lasting solution of the dispute over Western Sahara. We are accelerating relations with the Kingdom of Morocco in areas of trade, agriculture, health, tourism, energy, among others, for the mutual benefit of our countries.”
