Verslag VN Seminar dekolonisatie

Het VN seminar over kolonialisme vond dit jaar plaats op het eiland Grenada in het Caribische gebied. Deelnemers uit verschillende landen kwamen bijeen om gekoloniseerde gebieden in de wereld te bespreken. Ook uit de Westelijke Sahara waren er vertegenwoordigers. Deze keer waren het niet leden van Polisario (hoofdkwartier in Algerije) maar vertegenwoordigers uit door Marokko gecontroleerde Sahara. De organisatoren hebben Polisario niet uitgenodigd. Ze willen de andere kant van het verhaal horen. Polisario vrienden uit Cuba, Venezuela en Algerije vonden het niet leuk. Nieuw op de lijst van vrienden van Polisario is Syrië : "The representative of Syria expressed solidarity with his Cuban counterpart, saying that another delegation experienced a similar occurrence in 2018.* He then sought clarification from the Secretariat about the procedural issue of non-funding with regards to the representative of Frente Polisario for Western Sahara. The Special Committee Chair responded by stating that, on the basis of fairness and equity, a decision was made not to fund two participants from Western Sahara." https://tinyurl.com/y4bc5og9
